Hey y’all, so I have d16y5 that I believe has dropped a valve or rolled a cam. I pulled the valve cover and cranked it to see that the intake rocker isn’t even moving upon crank. The car starts, revs up and idles just fine other than a consistent know or tick that will intermittently disappear sometimes. I pulled plugs and cylinder 1-3 were perfect and 5 was black. I also compression tested it and all came back good ranging from 150-165psi. Is it common for these motors to roll cams? Is there something else that could have happened that I’m missing? Would it be worth my time to try and fix the current problem or just throw a new head on it? If so good recommendations for heads or if I should change it?

 

Did you check on the rockers? It can be any loose bolt.
