I want to know the difference to these because i am manual swapping my 04 Honda CRV and i have a 05 CRV parts car with the manual transmission and the manual ECU for the 05 has YY on it and the 04 manual ECUs have X5 on them i have look at them both and they have the same plugs but i want to know if the 05 ECU will work in the 04 that way i can know if i have to buy a 04 ECU or not.

 

In the US market the CR-V went to drive by wire in 2005. 2004 and 2005 are not compatible.

 

Thank you i remember a bit after i made this post it's ok though i can sell the 05 ECU and use the money to buy a 04 manuel ECU.

 

The automatic PCM will run the engine with the manual transmission but it will set the check engine light for the missing transmission.

Don't forget a new to you PCM will need to have the immobilizer programmed to your vehicle. Dealership, locksmith, or anyone with the proper tool can program this.
