this is true for 96 and up ecu's
92-95 will either have a 5 between the ecu Id

ok lets say we got a P28 there are 3 sets of numbers on the bar code
on the last set there are 3 digits, the middle one tells you
0- Manual 5- AUTO
on the last set there are 3 digits, the middle one tells you
0- Manual 5- AUTO

which ecu are you getting? 92-95 civics/integra/etc are obd1...plugs of the ecu have only 3 slots for the 3 grey plugs. 96-98 civics, 96-99 integra's are obd2A. 99-01 civics, 00-01 integras are obd2B. Say if your getting an obd1 p28 ecu, the numbers will say 37820-p28-A00 (A01, A02)...the last 3 numbers/letter indicate which year the ecu is, as well as auto/manual. In the case of A00-A02, that means its a 5 speed ecu. If it said A51, A52, G52, etc...its an auto ecu. This mainly applies to the obd1 p28 ecu. I believe the integra's might be the same as well...Not exactly sure how to read the year by the number indicated....post what the lable says on the ecu and i could find out for you... 37820-**-*** Let me know, also...if you drive w/ the ecu and you get no codes, then your fine

found it:
in 88-91 ecus (PM6, PR4, PW0, PR3, PM7):
5spd = 000, 001, 002, A00, A01, A10, J00, J001, C01, C00
Auto = J51, J50, A50, A51, 900, 901, A60, C50, C51, X30, A80
92-5 ECUs (P28, P30, P61, P72, P91, P08)

Auto = A70, A71, A72, A91, A92, C70, C71, C72, C91, C92
from the patterns we can learn the following:
first letter = country of orgin
J = Japan
C= Canada
A=USA
second digit, if 5, 7, 9 then ecu is auto usually
third digit denotes the version/variation
