Default 2006 Civic electrical gremlins.....

Had to jump start the car, and now it has some electrical issues. The radio does not work at all, no display. The remote lock/unlock does not work. Interior lights are not activated by the doors being open, no matter what position the light switch is in.

So, for my question - I am not familiar enough with the ECM/ECU/PCU to know which one/ones are causing the issues. I would like to pull the faulty item, or items, out of the car and send off for a repair, if possible. Is there any reasonable way to figure out what I need to pull and send?

Thank you!!

Likely the MICU, it is the under dash fuse box.

Check for blown fuses first.

Been there on the fuses already.

Why do you thing it is the MICU under the dash?

And I assume you mean the one that is accessible from the drivers foot well, in the center console area.

Yes that is the one. The back side of the fuse box is a circuit board with computer that manages power distribution. They are known to fail at this age with dead batteries and jump starts. Dome lights not operating as designed is one of the signs.

And I am not 100% sure about the 8th gen Civic but somewhere right around this time period the MICU also became a part of the immobilizer system. It can cause a blinking green key on the gauge cluster and a no start condition. Requires reprogramming the immobilizer system when the MICU is replaced.

You are being extremely helpful, thank you. I truly appreciate someone more knowledgeable than I offering assistance.

Is the MICU something like the ECM/PCU that I can have an electrical specialist repair? Or is it a certainty that it has to be a replacement? I would like to avoid the reprogramming if possible (added expense), which is why I would like to facilitate the repair.

Thanks again.

The 01-05 Civic peeps have poked at repairs. I am not aware of anyone successfully making a repair. They are finding the EEPROM is becoming corrupt with a dead battery situation. Why we don't really understand. There was some effort to get a copy of the memory from a known good EEPROM to reprogram a corrupt version.

Even with this method the MICU would still need to be programmed to the immobilizer as the immobilizer data is stored in the EEPROM memory and you would no longer have your original programming but would have the data from the donor memory.

I uploaded the memory dumps for a 2nd gen CR-V and 9th gen Civic SI but you will need matching roms for your year and trim/options to be successful.

I would recommend a wrecking yard for a second hand unit and a visit to someone with a programmer for the immobilizer.
