Mini-Me Swap Help.
Okay, I've read a ton of information for years about this now, however I need guidance on why my dizzy is maxing out, while the center timing mark is still towards the back of the engine.
It is a fully built y7 bottom end, with a fully built y8 head. Could the head be shaved prior to me buying it 2nd hand? It has a y8 Brian Crower Stage 2 Forced Induction Camshaft, with a y8 Aem Tru-Time Cam Gear(checked part no. It is the y8 one!) I have been told by somebody with an almost exact same setup(Cam and all...) that his idle sounded much different. All of the marks line up for mechanical timing. I know the y7/y8 have 12* base ignition timing, which I have set in my street tune(Hondata s300).
Would anyone be interested in handing over some guidance, or anywhere to start from?? PM's are welcome
I would appreciate it to the fullest, as I hope to pass my knowledge off to others so they don't have to struggle like I have..

When you start hybriding stuff and may be dealing with decked heads and blocks, youre just going to have to bite the bullet and degree the cam. You will know for sure that youre where youre supposed to be.
So, is it possible for the mechanical "tdc" timing marks to line up, or for the ignition timing marks to line up, but it still be technically off?
Thats just for the bottom end. I would assume that would be right, unless the crank pulley slipped on the rubber (which I have heard of believe it or not), but if the cam timing is wrong, its not going to perform well and its going to potentially make it hard to get the ignition timing right (like having to crank it all the way one way or the other to get it timed).

Would you use the same dial gauge for degreeing a dohc? If so I might be able to borrow a buddies and getter done today!
