Default Valve Adjustment JDM B16A

What are the valve lash specs for a JDM B16A ?

also: on this same engine, i can see two marks on the flywheel about one inch apart but nothing else and nothing to align them to. I did the timing on my 1.5 no problem but this 1.6 JDM is different. any suggestions?

THANKS!

valve adj, same as most of the others,
Intake: 0.006-0.007"

Exhaust: 0.007-0.008"

for the timing marks... I would pull the #1 plug, find TDC and find or if needed make new marks on the crank pulley and lower timing cover.

thanks! but there has got to be a pointer somewhere under there. I can see the flywheel marks but on my 1.5 there are three marks. on my 1.6 vtech I only see two marks and their 1" apart. is this JDM engine different from the USA engines in this regard?

thanks

It’ll be exactly the same. But maybe the crank pulley got swapped or marks faded over the past 20-30 yrs.

Why are you curious about the timing marks? If it is to adjust the lash, you don't need to worry about it. Just do the following: as you are rotating the engine, watch for when the exhaust valves starts to open, then adjust the lash on the intake valves. Then, rotate the engine until the intake valves open fully and begin to close, then adjust the exhaust valves on that same cylinder. Repeat on the remaining cylinders.

because I'm going to do both, valve lash AND timing.

with regard to the timing. it's not like my D series del sol. this JDM 1.6 vtech has two timing marks about an inch apart.
i was able to see the pointer but just barely. the timing is more towards the front timing mark as pictured. the front of
the engine is toward the bottom of the graphic.

Ahh, that makes sense!

If you are having a hard time with the timing marks on the crank or pulley, you can try lining up the marks on the cam gears with the cylinder head.
