Default New here have question about injectors

Hi
1994 accord Vtech 4 cyl stick
bought new injectors on eBay and saw a YouTube vid
guy said need to delete resistor to change to 12 volt from 5 volt
is this true the car runs fine
taking car 2000 mile trip next week and don’t want any issues
any help is appreciated

WRONG. That's some bad MISINFORMATION.

You could have just picked up some used Genuine Honda injectors from the salvage yard instead

Well if your injectors are High Impedance they will work much better if you remove the resistor box.

It doesn't have anything to do with 12v to 5v though. It's 12 ohms to 4 ohms of resistance that I am sure they are talking about. Your new ebay injectors are more than likely high impedance (saturated) injectors, these inj. have 12-13 ohms of resistance. Where as the low impedance (Peak and Hold) injectors that your car came with are 3-4 ohms of resistance and require a resistor box. Both are feed by the same 12 volts. The box can be found mounted on the driver side strut tower.

So is ok to drive on a long trip with the resistor left in place?

If I am understanding correctly, you MUST use the resistors and leave them in place always, otherwise damage could occur to either the injector as it tries to draw too much, or the ECU as it tries to supply too much.

You need to determine the impedance of your current injector. It is probably in the 10-15 ohm range. The low impedance injector is likely under 5 ohm.

I think you are going to need about 6ohm resistors PER injector to use them successfully.

but you should do the calculation to determine the exact number. this might help you:

Honda fuel injectors are 12v hot with ignition on and are grounded by the ECU injector drivers.

I agree that he needs to check the resistance of his injectors. However, You do not need to run any resistors with injectors that are already high impedance.

These Honda ECUs are designed with injector drivers that work with high impedance (higher resistance) injectors, that is why they installed a resistor box for the low impedance (lower resistance) injectors. Removing the resistor box while using high impedance injectors will not fry the ECU.

Now if you try to run low impedance (lower resistance) injectors without a resistor box, you may risk burning up the injector drivers in the ECU as they do not like the increase.

You will be fine. It won't fry anything.

I apologize, I read that completely backwards, I was thinking he was running high impedence in a low impedence setup. not the other way around.
