im deciding weather to go for a 92-95 cx with a b18c1 swap or a 92-95 sedan 4dr with a h22a swap. im 16, and i want the lowest insurance i can get.i also need room cause friends are always with me and i think that a hatch will be too much of a hastle.ive been doing research on both of the cars and the CX hatchback weights 2094lbs and the sedan 2275lbs for the DX. would the 180lbs difference really hurt me performance wise? i know that the h22 weights around 75lbs more than a b series. so it would be around 250lbs more.but the thing is that i need trq and the h22 has it, so would it be better off going with the h22 sedan? if i get the h22 sedan i will add TEIN coilovers and if i go with the hatch ill get some GC coilovers with some shocks not sure which ones yet? also i could get a sedan for like a grand cheaper. the h22 sedan swap will have better axles and a hcp mount kit.

 

Insurance wise.....Sedan. Riding with your friends.....Sedan.

But B series all the way. For the average price of an H22A swap in a Civic, it's around the same as an B18C5 swap.

H22A swap is $2000-$2500.....now thats everything to swap it into a 90+ Accord with a F series motor or a 92/93 Prelude that came with a H23A. You still have a lot of parts to buy plus the labor. If you're getting the usual price, out the door is around $5000. You can get a ITR swap installed for less than that without even looking hard.

B series will be cheaper unless you got the inside deals....or are just in the right spot at the right time to catch a deal.

It has plenty of room. I used to have a 97 ex coupe, the hatch has a good amount of room(it fells like cx=ex). I am sure there is a difference but i don't notice. It seems to me like my CX has more head room in the back over my friends LX. I am 6'3'' and i fit in the back fine(when not d.d.)

I haven't seen new insurance tables.

However, when I bought my 1992 Civic CX, it was the cheapest new car in the U.S. to insure - PERIOD.

Reasons - cheap (around $8000)
only car under $10000 to have ANY kind of airbag
economical
excellent crash testing results

The sedan cost more to insure because it cost more. If you are talking about Liability insurance only, the sedan may be cheaper, but for overall combined insurance (liability, collision, and comprehensive) the CX hatchback definately was cheaper, I don't know about today.
