Default problem with gear

My friend has a 93civic hb with a jdm 2gen b16a, He seem to have trouble with the gear in high rpm? I told him that the problem was his pressure plate that was tired. What do you think?

he only has trouble in high rpm, low rpm are fine

no, just a;ittle grinding, but this is the syncros. Does then 170hp b16a is cable or hydro tranny??
