Default 2006 CR-V instrument cluster reflow.

Would anyone have a link to step-by-step instructions for doing an instrument panel reflow in an oven? I have spent hours looking for it without luck. Thank you in advance for your time.

The usual. Speedo only works when interior of car heats up. I spent a few hours last night hand soldering some joints that looked sketchy. Put the cluster back in this AM before work and as soon as I attached the blue connector the speedo needle moved. I still need to learn how to reset the gages so they read correctly and then I'll install it again tomorrow AM and see what happens. The 2006 doesn't have a separate speedo board. On the plus side, I did 120 mph all day today!

Did you remove the dial pointers.
there is a procedure to do a test of the cluster , below. It will sweep the dials and do a data communications tests and tell you of its working correctly. I don't know if it resets the dials though. I did this manually in the past by removing the affected needle and reinstalling it.

Thanks Dave! I did remove the pointers but I'm not having a problem with those. Except for the speedo. When I plug the green harness back in now, after doing some soldering, the speedo makes a slight buzzing sound and the pointer acts like it's trying to move. After a few seconds it stops. It doesn't matter if the ignition is on or not. Right now I'm trying to get that diagnostic to run. Where it says to turn on the ignition, I'm not sure if it means to the accessory stop or all the way to where the panel lights up. I'm trying both. Hey man, thanks for your help. I appreciate you.

that jitter jumping is normal . That's power going into the driver circuit and the reaction of that. That's the needles are settling . Do the test procedures i sent you. It will sweep them and test the circuit.

The diagnostic runs fine. Took me awhile to get it right. You really have to watch the 5 second timing. Anyway, no errors but the speedo needle will not rotate. I can hear what sounds like grinding coming from the stepper motor. I'm going to open it up and see wazzup. Maybe I'll swap the tach motor for the speedo until I can get another stepper. I'd rather know how fast I'm going instead of my RPMs. I've got a speedometer app on my phone that's pretty accurate so I'll decide once I get the motor open.Did you see the two pics of that sleeper CR-V that I posted? It's pretty sweet. Thanks for the reply!

The stepper runs through a little gear so something is misaligned or broken . All the instruments are like this in the cluster. In fact, if you run an engine without a lense in place, you can actually hear the gears and stepper in action as the tach needle moves . You can always get another cluster they are $50 to $100 used at a recycling/ auto wrecker. Ebay has them .. ill check out the photos .
