Distributor question
96 accord ex 2.2, obd2
So i changed the cap rotor and ignitor. The cap and rotor where getting worn out and the ignitor from hitachi was 23$ from rock auto so why not.
I marked the plug wires from the left as in the book cylinder 1 on the right. Then i was marking the old cap as numbered in the book and my wires are off by 1. But the car ran just fine and did not have codes.
So i tried it the book way and the car would not fire. So i put the wires back the way they came off. Started like it was mis fire than ran smooth after 5 seconds, seems normal as before
is the ecm making it work but adjusted so it will run. If that is the case should i put it as the book says and try to start it again on hopes that the ecm fixes itself.
Also note that i did not rotate the crank to tdc before removal of the distributor but i did mark it

Can you take some pics to show us what you did? Doesn't make sense to me. How can you be off by 1? DO you mean you plugged the 1 into the 2, the 2 into the 3, the 3 into the 4, and it works fine that way? Maybe you had reversed something, as the cap isn't 1-2-3-4, if I remember correctly.

I know this is not the same year, but I am using as example of what I suspect happened.
