distributor question!
so heres the story.
my car got broken into at work today and they took my steering wheel so i had to leave my car at work!!
i didnt even think about it but they could steal my car overnight! so i went back and took out my spark plug cables but me being the idiot that i am forgot which spot on distributor goes to which cylinder.
can anyone help me?
or is it different for each car.

just put cyl #1 at tdc (top dead center), do this by lining up the crank pulley line with the line on the plastic timing cover (with a 19mm socket on the crank pulley bolt. make sure the car's in neutral w/ the e/brake on). pull the distributor cap.
the rotor will be pointing at #1 or #4. assume its #1, go ahead and put the wires on the cap with the cap off. firing order, looking at the cap, will go 1,3,4,2, in a clockwise order, so put the longest wire on 1, then put the second shortest wire (#3) on the next terminal in a clockwise pattern, then #4, the shortest, then 2. put the cap on, snug a couple screws, snap the wires in place on the plugs,and try to fire the car. if it runs smooth, you're good. if it doesn't, the rotor was pointing at #4. you're "180 out". you need to swap wires two places. it should run fine.
i'm sure omeone can just throw you a "#1 is at the bottom" or somethin, i just can't remember
