2009 Accord clutch shuddering after sitting overnight?

Hi guys,

I just came back to the Honda family after picking up a 2009 Accord EX from CarMax. It has 75k miles and is a 5-speed manual, and I’m absolutely loving it so far coming from a 2001 Mustang v6.

However, I’m having a strange problem I was hoping y’all might be familiar with. When I first start my car in the morning, the first 8ish minutes of driving makes the car shudder/shake when engaging first gear, no matter how differently I let the clutch engage. No difference in throttle/slipping time changes it, it always shudders for a second before getting into gear. It happens only when I’ve left the car alone overnight. It doesn’t happen when I come out to drive it on my lunch break about 4-5 hours after starting work.

I ran into a similar problem with my mustang, but it happened all the time, especially when taking off uphill. A brand new clutch fixed this in the Mustang. This only happens on the Accord the first few minutes of driving cold, and won’t happen under any other situation once the car has warmed up.

Super specific and weird issue—but I’m loving my Honda otherwise!
