to tell you the truth, I was only looking for a bare block with no work done to it or anything, so I'm only looking to spend maybe a couple hundred bucks if that.

 

you are able to know that is bored .030 over but you dont even know the brand of sleeves?

 

uhh..yeah. it came from a friends machine shop. he put the sleeves in that the customer provided. the person blew the motor up and brought it back and got a different set up. then we bored it to clean up the cylinders. the sleeves cost $400 not including labor. make sense?

 

For $900 you could buy a complete short block and get a complementary tube of KY. Sleeves are nice, but if you don't know the brand and how much bigger they can go, what's the point? Who would put a bunch of money into an engine without knowing what the foundation is?
