Default Help LS/VTEC newbie here CRX HElp!!!

Hello ,
I’m currently working on my first build ever . 1990 Honda crx Hf swapping in a 1996 b18b1 bored to 81.5 . All motor set up . New wiseco pistons , eagle rods , Acl oil pump , Acl bearings ,gsr timing belt and water pump . I will be using a GSR head . I have a few questions.

1.Do I need to add an oil catch can ?

2.Should i updgrade the GSR HEAD ? It’s stock and if so....what kind of upgrades would you guys recommend?

3. will rc 550 injectors work fine ? Or do I need smaller or stock ?

4. Leave stock fuel rail or upgrade to AEM ?

I am no mechanic but really enjoy doing the work myself . Thank you guys cheers from Bay Area cali

1.Do I need to add an oil catch can ? Not necessarily. You need some form of crankcase ventilation, but for all motor the stock PCV system works fine.

2.Should i updgrade the GSR HEAD ? It’s stock and if so....what kind of upgrades would you guys recommend? What are your goals with the car, and by "upgrade" do you mean modify or change to a different head? If you are going to be turning higher RPM than stock, you should look into running aftermarket springs and maybe retainers. If you are using aftermarket cams, you may also need to upgrade your springs. If the head has a lot of miles on it it's never a bad idea to send it to a cylinder head shop and have them clean and inspect it. If needed, have them replace any worn or damaged components, perform any maintenance needed, and cut a new surface.

3. will rc 550 injectors work fine ? Or do I need smaller or stock ? If you are running the stock ECU, keep the injectors the stock size (240 cc/min I think). If you use larger injectors with a stock ECU you will run rich. The engine won't need more fuel unless it's getting more air. Make sure you either use saturated (high impedance) injectors without a resistor box or peak and hold injectors (low impedance with a resistor box).

4. Leave stock fuel rail or upgrade to AEM ? If you want to upgrade it you can, but it will not improve performance. It will be purely bling.

1. The reason why I asked for oil catch can was because the year of block 1996 I’m using does not come with breather box did not know If it was a problem .

2. My goals for this car is 200hp all motor daily car commuter for work with working AC . Sorry I meant to say modify. After some reading and asking around I have decided to change out springs and retainers with supertech brand. I have also decided to change out the Lost Motion Assembly spring with supertech as well . Valve seals will be replaced . Stock cams for now . Stock valves for now . Any other suggestions ?

3. I will be running a chipped ECU, will I be fine with the rc injectors 550c? I do not have the stock ones ?? I have also order a new fuel pump walbro 255
Fuel rail will be stock .

Any other suggestions would be highly appreciated my goal is 200hp daily commuter CRX for work all motor set up . 1996 Ls/Vtec set up bored to 81.5

Wiseco pistons , eagle connecting rods .

Gotcha. If you don't have the black box, you may want to run a catch can, then.

Sounds good on the head. Since you are doing new pistons, I would personally have a valve job done on the head. For me, I like to have fresh rings and fresh sealing valves at the same time.

Chipped ECU, you should be fine to run the RC 550's. You'll just not need all the fuel they could potentially deliver, but that just gives you room for growth in the future.

Looking good. Good luck with the build. Enjoy!
