Hello all. Looking for some direction. Recently took the fun car out and had a little too much fun. Ended up on a tow truck with what I thought was a blown head gasket. Just tonight I got everything torn down and saw this. Pretty depressing.
The motor is a boosted F23, with Wiseco K20 pistons and Molnar rods. Only has about 4K on the rebuild. Currently running about 18lbs at 290+/- HP. Wondering if this even repairable or if I should be looking at a new block. I think the head will be fine, I’m sure those small imperfections from metal particles can be smoothed out. Obviously my concern is the block. Also any insight on why this could have happened would be helpful as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Reason: Better description
That is terminal... you need a new block. It "May" be fixed if you install Darton Iron sleeves in it, but this depends on how deep the fracture goes toward the saddle of the block.

^^^ This. The head may still be salvageable, you now have a perfect excuse to polish your combustion chambers. Lol!
My question is: What the actual **** happened? I thought the F23 was a tough sumbitch?

Well looks like an open deck which = WEAK :D As you know b series open deck can only go to like 400-450. And that crack looks like classic detonation crack. Usually its cylinder 3 that detonates as it fires first. The scarring in the head is some debris that got compressed.
