pulled head off after poor leakdown results. now what???
after poor leakdown results 1-4 7%,19%,9%,10%, i pulled the head to see what happened. my pistons still look good from what i can see and the cylinder walls are smooth and glossy but if i look really close, i can still see images of the honing. if my rings were shot, would the walls be noticably scored? head gasket seemed fine except it had a tiny wear in black material imbetween the cylinders but it wasn't all the way through. when i pulled my turbo manifold off i noticed a small amount of oil on the gasket and a little tiny bit coming out of the turbo where the i/c piping goes. can anyone help me out here. what does the problem seem like to you guys. this was a freshly built block and head w/ 3angle valve job by portflow. also on the combustion chamber side of the head there seemed to be a thick coat of carbon??

anyone know what the problem is? i have a little black discoloration on the cylinder walls on all four cylinders on the front side. is that normal. the walls are still smooth and glossy.

that looks normal to me, how many miles are on your block?
if you really think something is wrong push one of your pistons out.

Thats out of round! Need to either hone/bore out the block. Probably need to use oversized pistons also. Im doing the Golden Eagle sleeves, stronger, and better.

Re: (Turbo E)
*Looks like he honed the cylinder already the stone on the hone hit all the areas on the cylinder except that one dark spot where the piston skirt rides on.
*So once again the cylinders are out of round, if the piston where in the cylinder the rings will hit it the shiny spots where the hone hit but there will be blowby or leakdown in the dark section where the ring doesnt hit properly!

looks like the ring/ringland has cracked where that dark area is in the cylinder to me, you should have it Mic'd to be sure, but it sounds like the bottom end could use freshening.

Re: (lazerus)
import builders built the block. ge sleeved 84mm pistons/bore. i talked to him about it and he said it's from the piston heating up too much, expanding and hitting the cylinder wall. he said to hone it .002 scotch brite the piston skirt and put new rings in which he is providing for me(great guy and great customer service).
