Default bypass coolant heater line to valve cover breather line

Stock 2000 Civic EX with D16y8, was thinking about removing the coolant line that goes through the metal tube that connects to valve cover breather. Was wanting to run the small coolant line directly to Idle Air Control Valve and remove the metal bracketry. Does the valve cover breather line really need heat from coolant to prevent sludge in the Deep South?

Just wondering...

Also will the throttle body/IACV ice up with the coolant lines removed?

There shouldn't be any issues with sludge build up... and if you are in the South, you shouldn't have any issues with icing the IACV either. Then again, you can keep the cooling path connected and simply remove the double hard pipe from the middle. Then you don't have to worry about any icing at all... and it is much cleaner looking.
