Swapping OBD1 engine into OBD2 car may be illegal, depending on where you live.

I live in Memphis Tn. emissions won't be a problem. I need to know what all I have to swap. I believe it would be going from OBD2 engine w vtec into OBD1 non vtec.

Look for an OBD1 ECU --> OBD2A connector adapter.

The D15B7 runs on the OBD1 P06 ECU.

An OBD2A ECU will look for sensors that the D15B7 lacks.

I'm taking a d16y8 a/t out of a 98 civic, I want to put it in my 93 coupe and keep the 5 speed.

Oh, I misunderstood.

You may be able to install a D16Y8 chip in the P06 ECU to optimally run the D16Y8 VTEC engine.

why would I need to chip it if I'm just looking to change it from a/t to manual?

An OBD1 non-VTEC P06 ECU won't properly run a OBD2 VTEC D16Y8 engine.

You want to run an OBD2 Honda ECU in an OBD1 Honda car? Best of luck with that.

tired of searching
You will benefit by getting some rest and then resuming your search. Do a lot of reading.

I don't see why not they make a conversion harness.

Well, I got to d16y8 into the car. It being obd2 I used the harness off the d15, switched alternator, the d15 dizzy bolted right up and worked fine for the Vtec. So I turned an obd2 motor into and obd1 motor. It won’t look for a knock sensor, so no check engine light. I used the automatic intake and had to drill and tap to add Iacv and I used the obd1 throttle body from the d15. I had the po6 chipped with a y8 base map and converted it from auto to manual trans mission. Pretty much ran for a couple of minutes then threw a rod. So, now I’m moving on and swapping in a B18b1. Thanks for all those whom added intelligent content to this thread. Two brains are better than one. We are a hive mind. Honda’s for life.
