Power issue
My son bought a 92 Accord EX, He was told at the time it wouldn't run because it needed a main relay so we've put one in it but it has no power to anything. I admit I should have looked at it before he bought it but what he was told made sense because he did hear it crank just not start. At the time I did not know that it had a push button switch installed to crank the starter and he did not notice there was no power to anything else. I have checked all fuses and relays, nothing has ever been modified from factory original except for the starter button. When I check voltage at the switch it has 12V but as soon as you turn switch on it drops to almost zero. The car will run by pouring a little gas in the throttle body and the switch does work for turning ignition on and off but that's it, no power to ANYTHING else. No lights, turn signals, fuel pump, nothing. Very confused about it. Obviously the person he got it from lied to him. Hate to junk it but it we can't figure it out soon we're going to have to. Thanks in advance for any ideas where to look.
Its possible the ignition switch itself is faulty and grounding out. Easiest bet is to get is an FSM and follow the diagnostic proceedures for troubleshooting. In the event you cant find one quickly. Your local library might have a subscription to the EBSCOHOST Automate db. (Formerly known as the ARRC) Here they have a multitude of wiring diagrams, troubleshooting proceedures. In the event you dont have a library with gracious access, you can always google to find access. I appologize as I dont have the ETM (electrical manual) for the 92, just a 94. Additionally I dont know if your car is automagic or Manual.
