New build! Okay to much mismatch info! Help
Okay so I am building my first motor I decided a d series Honda would be great place to start seeing all the info that is available, plus I work for Honda of America! So anyway. I have a 93 Civic CX with a 1.5 d15b8 crappy motor. Was my winter beater last year but this year I got a truck so I decided to have some fun building the car. So I started looking for parts.
what I have so far
z6 block planning on building said block with eagle rods and viatra pistons.
Y8 head in good shape
Ex 5 speed
I need turbo suggestions
Here's the problem the block didn't come with a head. So I started looking for a head in good shape and I found a Y8 head.
This is where I am confused
Y8 head on a low compression built z6 block should I be good for a decent turbo build? I would like to run more than 8 psi of boost. I want to make it a drag car. So if I need to resell the Y8 I can if I have to but rather not because z6 heads seem to be few and far between here in Ohio.
What I have read is a Y8 is a high compression head? And doesn't flow as well as a z6? I am planning on getting the head worked on what should I get done to make it a better combo?
Sorry if this is the wrong place first post!

I would take a look at d-series.org they have everything you need to know about the D. Every combo, what works, what doesn’t, etc.
Since you have a Z6 block, the Y8 shouldn't boost your compression ratio up as high like it does on the D15B7 block. The Z6 has dished pistons.
zealautoworks.com is your friend to play around with piston, rod, block combos. What it doesn't have is journal width information which takes outside research to learn.
With the standard Z6/Y8 3 layer MLS head gasket I get 9.45:1 CR. If you can find a B7 leak gasket mls head gasket (Ishino) you can drop that to 9.23:1 CR stock block. Vitara's drop it to 7.69:1 CR on the B7 leak gasket.
