I had my AC system replaced after a compressor failure. The local dealer used an aftermarket unit as they said OEM was discontinued. They gave a one year warranty. Arizona has been super hot and on August 11 while leaving a parking garage I pressed the AC button and a thud/woosh type sound was heard and white stuff that was like smoke started coming out the vents. A weird smell (maybe the R134?) was also present. I turned off the AC a second or two after the smoke came out and the smoke continued for a few more seconds until it dissipated.
I wasn't sure what happened but once on the freeway I tried the AC and it was fine. Last week it happened again when the car was out in the blazing sun. It's never happened at night when it's cooler.
Any idea? Maybe the heat is affecting the pressure in the AC system? (I don't know **** about any of it). I have some Yahooing to do.

Could be humidity that's been sitting in the system overnight. Are you sure there's no coolant leak?
Make sure the drain line for the AC under the car is still dripping/clearing properly too and not backed up. Check your radiator cap and overflow tank, make sure everything is tight and closed up.
