Icon5 95 civic gsr swap help.

So I am new to the Honda scene this is my first time logging in to post. I just picked up a 95 ex with the d16z6. Recently I purchased a stock 98 b18c1 with s80 trans to swap into it with future plans to build and boost. The gsr I got didn’t come with engine harness or Ecu but has everything else. I was going to see about using my existing harness and picking up a compatible ecu.I’m getting conflicting info on a few things. Can I use the obd1 d16z6 harness with the obd2 engine? If so what modifications will be needed? I have read about jumper harnesses but not sure if that’s exactly what I need.I have spent hours searching forums but details are still a bit vague and wiring isn’t my strong point. I would like to know what would be the easiest way to get wiring taken care of without having to change a bunch of sensors and parts. This is the main thing holding me up on the swap I already have mounts, t bracket, shift linkage, axles, rad hoses on order. I’m wanting to keep engine as original as possible. Is there anything else I’m forgetting. Thanks in advance for the help.

If you have $450 to spare, this would be perfect for your swap: https://www.rywire.com/product-p/b1-base.htm

I personally run this in my car. We have the same year Civic.

They offer a harness that eliminates the shock tower plugs on the passenger side and is plug and play. Plugs directly to your motor's OBD2 engine plugs directly to the OBD1 ECU connector. Think of it like a huge step-down harness.

Really not looking to spend that much on a harness right now. Maybe in the future but as of right now I’m trying to keep it cheap and just get it running. If I’m thinking correctly my obd1 dizzy plug, alternator, and injector plugs would be different from my obd2 engine plugs correct? Can I just find the plugs from a obd2 harness and mate them with the obd1 harness and get it to work with a obd1 p72? Are there any other things I’m missing?

You'll just have to hop around junkyards to find a functional harness. You can shop online yards as well but be prepared to deal with bad parts being shipped

You can do this in a few different ways:
  1. Buy an '96 - '99 Integra GSR engine harness, it's a direct plug in at the shock tower plugs and you can keep the OBD2 alternator, distributor, and injectors
  2. Buy an OBD1 alternator, distributor, and injectors and re-use your existing harness. You will need to de-loom parts of the harness and tape it up again to get certain connectors to reach
  3. Cut and splice OBD2 plugs for the alternator, distributor and injectors onto your original harness
Options 1 and 2 are preferable. You can also use an LS harness and just add the vtec wiring as well.

Ok so before I got the replies I went and ordered obd2 to obd1 injector, dizzy , and alternator jumper harnesses so I didn’t have to cut much. I have the harness plugged to engine for the most part. I have three plugs left one for iat sensor( need to extend 6 inch) ,oil pressure( need to extend maybe 3 inch) and one other which I believe goes to the egr system on the d series not exactly sure though it will plug into the black box with vacuum lines under the intake mani and will also plug to the knock sensor. Does the d series even have a knock sensor? Now my question is what plugs to the knock sensor or will I even need that since I will be running a chipped p28 but on stock base map?

I actually just found a post from you 94eg8 from 2008 talking about iat and purge valve wire colors. This would be the one correct? Now what about the ckf sensor ,I believe it’s called, right by crank pully. Is there any way to bypass this or is it a necessity. Sorry for any stupid questions I’m reading and trying to learn but getting mixed answers.

You will not need a knock sensor if you intend to use a P28 ECU for engine operation.

If you de-loom the harness You can re-route a lot of the wiring so that you don't need to extend much if anything. It's been quite a while since I did one, but I'm pretty sure you can get enough length out of everything.
