cheapest route to 13 seconds
I own a 95 dx civic. Now i don't have a ton of cash, but would like a fun car. I just don't know what would be the most economical idea...........
1) Swap a b20 non-vtec with a ls tranny
2) Rebuild my dx motor and add turbo, but my tranny has 130k
like I said i dont have to be the fastest, just a quick car that is in the high 13's, I think that would be respectable in my opinion.

What I would do for a budget car, I'd look into purchasing a D16Z6 (sohc vtec) motor, getting just the bottom end rebuilt, head cleaned, gaskets replaced, etc and buy a streetable GReddy turbo kit.
D16Z6 swaps usually cost roughly $800 total and are very easy to install provided you have the exact car, and all you would need to do is swap to a P28 ecu, and add vtec wiring.

Yea a D16Z6 with Zex can get your car down there pretty easy... I would take to Mistabone about it.. My friend has a VX with a SOHC Si and 75hp Zex... Easy 13's on slicks
well I am looking to spend at most 3 grand. Hey Poison $800 that doesnt include tranny does it? THats a awsome price, and if i add nitrous to it that would be one cost effective motor. THat would put me way under budget, also all instalation will be done by my friend for free (if you call a case if natty free), so do not factor instalation into the price.

If you got the money and know how, H22 all the way. If not, I agree with Poison. By the way Poison, do you know Brett Michaels?

You can throw nitrous in there (50-75 shot) and tuned, or you can throw a nice streetable GReddy kit and be in the 13's.
I had a friend who used to have a D16Z6 supercharged with 75 shot of nitrous and was in mid 13's.
hope that helps man
Sell you my SOHC VTEC when I pull it. Trans and ECU if you want it all. Its a 95. I would say new valves and rings, but if you rebuild thats not a problem. Under $800. Have to check on shipping.
If you can afford it then I would just go with a GSR..... If not then a B16 is cool... That's pretty easy high 13's with some bolt-ons... Have fun
It's going to take more then a few bolt-on's to get a b16a(in his car) to run 13's...
the cheapest route would be to go to the track drop your $20 for the evening and run the 1/8th mile all night
guranteed 13's..... j/k........
for 3k i would go with either a h22a, b18c1,or b16a and custom turbo......It may be hard to get a turbo b16a for under 3k butit's possible with a little time.

I think that the d16z and turbo is a good way to go, I have found many kits (used) for 1000-1300. Can anyone direct me to a place where i can find more info on this kind of setup? I would more than likely run the motor stock with hondata, then rebuild it later on to handle high boost levels. Hopefull i will have a 13 sec coupe and a nice lookin intercooler in the front!
