What's up guys.. I did not find the answer to this so here it goes.
Car is a 93EG Si.
First off, everything on my sunroof was working fine. It tilts up and it also slides back fully to open.

Now it does tilt up but it only slides back to open about 2 inches and then stops. It does not want to fully open(slide back). So it starts to slide back and then it gets stuck.

 

Upon inspecting the rails I found a wire piece that looks like a spring and it is loose.(see pictures).




do I have to pull down the headliner to install this?

 

Most likely. :/ Unless you can see where it goes and can get your fingers in there....

 

It's been many years since I was in there but I don't think you have to pull the headliner.... just remove the glass.
You can then 'help' the mech move around to get access to it.
You will likely have to realign the mech to get everything working perfectly again though.

*edit* the question is.... why did it come off?
