So I dropped the oil pan and all the bearings look good so now I'm thinking it could be the connecting rod. When I had the block decked I had them install itr pistons. Anyone ever had issues with this? I had oil in it. It has never over head no smoke. I' was still breaking this in. Anyone one know how to check the connecting rods with out actually pulling out the piston
You can use a long screwdriver or long 1/4" extension in the spark plug hole to check and see how high each piston comes up at TDC. Take the plugs out and turn the engine over by hand, check one cylinder at a time. If one comes up short, even slightly, it's a good indicator of a bent rod. Who rebuilt the block? What type of wrist pins were used?
I got the it rebuild at a shop in east LA. He said he used stick pins. I will check the pistons in the am and update you guys. Thanks for the help. I'm sure it's the pistons and connecting rods due to the fact that there is no metal shavings and it had oil.
