Currently driving a 2005 Honda Civic VP Coupe manual transmission. I am looking to purchase a replacement transmission but I would like to be certain of my purchase by knowing exactly which one I am looking for. Is there any way I can find which one it is I need exactly (without getting under the car and looking at the actual transmission) Looking for verification preferably with the vin number, or some kind of code identifier on the door jam that I may be able to reference with something online. Thanks.

 

Well, there's a vin tag on the trans. It's underneath it though. Any 5 speed 2001-2005 D17 SOHC engine trans will work though.

 

Right, but don't some models have different gear ratios? ie: dx, ex, lx, and vp. I'm sure it'll fit but the gear ratios will be different according to engine specs. Another example vtec vs non vtec. Just playing devils advocate. I believe it will fit like you say but i'd like to keep it to its original specs.

 

Could have just read the FAQs page and saved yourself the time, honestly.
