Default Jaco33's Quest: T25-powered D16Z6 to make 220bhp

So I have a d16z6, stock rods and pistons with arp rod bolts, arp headstuds, cometic head gasket, king enigine bearings, stage 2 clutch, 450 injectors and 255 fuel pump and a t25 garrett turbo.I will be tuning it with a hondata s300. I want to make 220 hp on it, will this handle it?

Id say not for long because you ll have A LOT of torque to hit 220 with a t25 because youll need quite a lot of boost.
With a bigger turbo yes.

Will a healthy stock bottom end D16Z motor that has been tuned properly and has sufficient supporting mods support 220whp?...yes.

220 to the tyre with that turbo will require at least 14 psi hands down. That will create a ton of torque.
Unless you use a boost by rpm strategy to keep the torque hit smoother id say youll bend a rod fast.
Its like 25 lbs max or something turbo.
125 chp -> 220 whp
Inevitably that will be very fast 220 horses with that T25 if you do it tho.
Still the smallest turbo id try to hit 220 on a D16 is like a 16g or super60 or something.

I'm gonna certainly go with this here. It can, and has been done, yes. Tune is so important. I had a healthy bottom end too. After the smoke cleared from my disaster, I look back and realize detonation is what ate piston 1 for me..

My timing was WAY too advanced and I was evidently in knock territory and didn't realize until it was too late. Destruction occurred in the middle of a WOT pull at about 12 psi. I had driven around with no problem on 6-8 psi, but wanted more. This event prompted my current build and taught me a lot. Bittersweet affair. Lol

That blown out piston gives me nightmares.. Im sure that 220 whp is attainable, reliable? will totally depend on your setup, after all, we are boosting cast alum after all :D

When i boost my d series, it will be a weak 6-8 psi, just enough to help it get out of its own way (doing a very budget build CRX) . I have owned 2-3 EG's all boosted and each one of them was reliable motor wise until you turned the boost past 1bar, the axles and everything else, tends to start failing/wearing down The most I ever made on my EG hatch d16z6 with i think a y58? tranny (i cant remember its been so long since ive been in a honda i cant wait :D) was around 180 WHP, at 10 psi tuned safely, was using a turbo from some DSM at the time, cant honestly remember. Never blew up.

220 is probably attainable, but definitely not reliable. Even if your head-gaskets helping drop your compression a ton, your still cast bottom end
The tuner matters a huge deal. Hondata is a great unit and you shouldn't have any problems in that dep.

Some places can even offer remote tune if you use their wideband/software etc. And this is how I had my BMW tuned, works fantastic. Just depends on goals I suppose!

Good Luck and let us know how it goes!

The OP states upgraded hardware; head studs, etc, but using stock rods and pistons. 220whp is pushing the limits. The best tuner in the world wouldn't tune to those limits in order to keep it reliable. They would take it to the 150-175 mark and call it a day.

Remote tune, sure. I am doing that very thing with my current setup. It's turning out beautifully.
