Hi all. I have a 1994 Integra with a stock internal B17A1, just rebuilt. It is turbo'd, running about 7 psi at the moment. I'm enjoying the combination.

I have installed 1/2 inch vents in both the rear block plugs which travel to a catch can. I have been experiencing that during boost these vents will push oil up though the vent system. Lots of it.

I do not have the valve cover vented; I'm in the process doing these now (Twin 5/8 vents). Thought I could 'get away' with the block vents only.

It seems like the oil is being pushed to the back of the engine during high acceleration then forced into the system by the blowby.

Has anyone else experienced this??

The ports on the block are known to push more oil through the lines than you'd see if you tapped only the valve cover.

I'd recommend either installing a drainback system or closing off those ports, and instead tapping the VC.

 

Agreed. Tapping the valve cover is not necessary at all to get good crank case ventilating. Doing a drain back system with a Volvo S80 check valve as part of a PCV system between the valve cover nipple and intake manifold. There are examples in H-T that are bestt found via Google. This has been discussed at length
