Default Worth wrapping a tubular log manifold?

I'm curious if it would be worth or even possible to wrap a tubular manifold such as this one.

AZ_CIVIC who do you use for thermal coatings? I used to use Jet Hot till they closed their AZ location.

I like doing both. Wrapping & Coating. But if you had to pick one, I'd High Heat Cerakote first.

I think you'd be better off making a heat shield you could bolt to it or around it. Thats my plan. Wrapping is a pain in the ****.

I usually give my parts to Joe to get coated but I am pretty sure it's Full Race that does the coating. To me the heat coating is very good stuff, I've tried the wraps in the past and am just not a fan of the stuff.

Full-Race sends those off, trying to remember where, but I know it's not in-house.

I'm worried about coating and heating could cause cracking issues at the welds.

Not sure if that worry is warranted or not.

The ceramic coating itself will not cause a weld to crack.

Those do not cause the welds to crack at all. In fact, when it's done, the manifold is slowly preheated to over 700*F before the coating is even applied.

I wonder who does the best thermal coating? I did some massive research into it several years ago and came up with a company that did it but their coating was white of all things. I cannot remember who it was to save my life though.

LOL swine tech... oink oink...

Swaintech is renowned for their coatings, and anyone who knows anything wouldnt mind the white color knowing they have the best thermal coating on the market. If you want that JDm BlanG BlANg NeO CHRoME hotness then you need to find a company without racing pedigree...

i have a guy in town i took mine to. this is a synapse turbo manifold i had made a while back had it treated locally. synapse and the person who heat treated my mainfold both agreed that using heat wrap was a no no. although synapse turbo isnt around, they wouldnt warrant the manifold if it was heat wrapped.

I heat-wrapped mine. It wasn't hard just take your time.

I used the titanium lava rock wrap that DEI makes. Its a lil bit expensive compared to regular ceramic wrap but it doesn't have to be wetted when applied and it looks great if you take your time. I can drive the car down the highway, pull over and lay my hand on the manifold briefly. I am sure that's not the case during a hard pull but, it keeps the engine bay very cool for a turbo car. I wrapped my manifold, had my turbine housing coated along with a turbo blanket, and wrapped my downpipe along with the wastegate dump.

I've used heat wrap, it worked OK. Today I'd probably just coat it though. If you do wrap it, watch out for those stainless steel ties as they are sharp as **** and they will cut you gooood.

First you cut yourself on one of the steel ties, then you get fiberglass shards all over your hands from the wrap. Then you get sweat mixed in with all that goodness while you work in your garage in 102 degree weather.

I love wrapping headers

Gotta love not knowing you have fiberglass in your hand until you get it at that just right angle afterwards.
