Default Brake lights stay on when car is off?

I replaced the brake light switch as they are pretty common to go bad.

Its a 1993 Del Sol S, non ABS.

Any other ideas on what to check?

Replace the rubber stopper that touches the switch!

The brake pedal is pushing in the switch fully with no problem .

Unplug the switch. Do the lights then go out?

Did the penny trick and that fixed it. Good thing I only paid like $10 for the new switch.

But, isn't the switch able to be adjusted closer to the brake arm? My plastic part on the brake arm broke (22yrs old) so I am using the penny trick, until I can put a small bolt through the hole, and adjust the switch to a new position.

The piece that goes into the brake pedal itself was missing. Attached a penny to cover the hole.

Exactly what I am doing currently.later,I want to put something through the hole as well, so it won't fall off like a taped penney does.

As Black R said above. Replace the rubber stopper. You are missing this.

Go get one from your local dealer.
