Rear Drum Compatability
Hello,
I have a 2000 civic lx. I bought the front and rear suspension off a 6th gen coupe (year and model unknown). I found out the front calipers and brake pads don't interchange and thats ok.
I swapped the rear trailing arm, knuckle, and brake assembly in the rear. I am looking to replace the rear shoes and drums, but I don't know what parts to buy. Are the rear shoes and drums the same for all 1996-2000 civics.
Thanks,
Bill

Are the dreums rusted or somehow not reusable? Drums can be used again if no issiues.
Chain parts stores (autozone, O' Reilly's) will have pads and a drum brake kit: springs, clips, etc... However, in most cases the original springs clips, pins hold up well and most likely will not need replacement.

The drums from the old suspension were rusted bad all the brake parts have been recycled. I don't want take the "new" drums to the machine shop to see if they can be turned. I would rather buy new ones. Its $15 to turn them and $25 for a new one.
I not quite sure what model the swapped rear suspension is from so I don't know what drums and shoes to order. I would like to know if there is only one size brake drum and shoe on the 1996-2000 civic so I don't have to send parts back..
Are there different size rear drums and shoes on each model 2000 honda civic?
