There's a thread covering the rear disc swap in the FAQ's thread.

^what toyo said, it's been done a thousand times

But I'll answer your questions anyways.

As far as discs, stay stock unless you have a track ready turbo K20 swap. Ceramic pads will be fine as well. Any parts you get for the rear (assuming you're in the US) make sure they are EP3 2002-2003 parts. Elsewhere in the world, get the EL rear components when buying discs/pads, etc. You shouldn't have to rebuild the calipers, but if you just feel like it then get new bolts and pins from a dealer, grease em good. Make sure you bleed your brakes BLEED YOUR BRAKE (B L E E D Y O U R B R A K E S) when you're done

If you have any specific questions, feel free to come back to this thread and ask away. I've done the swap twice now, both times from an EP3 to an EM2.

I love all feedback, ive been through the faqs, the one by boilermaker is the one ive followed, but im not looking for giant 6 piston caps, my fault for not being too specific. My issue is replacing componets since its a bit hard( for me at least) to figure out what works. For instance ive confirmed that the front brembo blanks 405 21009 253 are the same for ep3/em2, so front pads are a no brainer. As for front brake lines im looking at stoptech ss 950.40011 but the years covereage and applications are really wide, the 02-06 and 02-05 civic si is 950.40003. So headache begins here and the rear isnt any easier since its hard to confirm if EL rears are the same as Ep3, ive looked at other sites but......... so yeah, ill keep at it but if anyone has done this before feedback is appreciated.

Yeah, I don't know where you got the 6 piston idea... but the thread covers a standard EP3/EL/Base DC5 rear disc install, bud.

Yeah six is much lol just want the install to go smooth as possible, it was a beezy installing front control arms even though they came off easy, plus since alot off components are coming from Ebay I dont want to order wrong.

Not to mention, if you're looking into performance stuff, since the EP3 is a typeR or at least an Si, you'll find performance upgrades are a lot more plentiful since it's the sportier civic.

As someone who's turboing the D17, I can say a k swap will cost about the same. Bigger up front cost for the K20, trans, drive shafts, ecu, wiring mounts... or put money into the D17 for boost. It'll come to $2k +/- depending on what your goals are.

Since the performance ceiling and reliability of the K-series platform supersedes the D17 immensely, it'd be a difficult sell on the D17... unless you don't have the space to use an engine hoist.

^what matt said.

I'm building the D17 because I got the running engine and working trans for $200. So far I'm $1300 into the build with only an ECU and BOV to buy still. it appealed to me because I didn't have to buy new harnesses or mounts, which saved money, on top of the fact that my engine was $600-$900 cheaper than a K20 plus transmission. Plus I can change back to NA quickly if I have problems.

Just have to prioritize.
