Icon6 2005 civic obd II issues HELP!!

i have a check engine light on my car, the OBD II wont read with a plug in computer, car runs like crap since the light came on. how can i see what the code is?
the car lost power, the temp gauge stopped working, and the auto transmission wont shift up or down unless i manually change the gears up or down.... frustrated. 1.7 engine

Sounds like your ECU may be dead.

Before you replace the ECU, make sure that the alternator mounting bolts are tightened to spec.

UPDATE...... Yes the ECU was fried, The Alternator bolt was loose. I bought a used ECU from wrecking yard, had it flashed, done! Drives great again.
my original ECU numbers ended in a 76, found out that numbers from 72, 73, 74, 75, and 76 all will work. Thank you guys for your dead on diagnostic answers.
