Default 2004 civic heater issue

need some help fixing the heater in my civic.

Blower does not work.

Checked the transistor and there 1.5(1500) ohm resistance between 2 of the posts
there is power to the blower.
pulled the blower motor and jumpered straight to 12v and it turns on

where do I look next?

Check any switches, fuses, relays connected to the blower.

1. a. Unplug the electrical connector to the transistor unit.
1. b. Attach a jumper wire (short piece of wire) from the Blue/Black wire cavity to the Black wire cavity on the unplugged electrical connector. Leave the connector unplugged.
1. c. Turn the ignition ON.

Does the motor run? If it does, there are no issues with the fuses or the blower motor relay.

2. Although the resistance of 1,500 ohm is okay for the blower motor power transistor, there are still other test before you can rule out the power transistor.

Hi tech8.

The blower motor runs runs with the jumper in place.

Does this mean it is indeed the transistor?

Thanks for for the help this is great!! What are my next steps.

Yes, the resistor is bad.

Thanks for the helps guys. I picked up a transistor yesterday at the local wreckers and it worked for the night. I came out this morning and the fan is no longer working. I find it to coincidental that it would just fail so quick, so I am wondering what would case the failure.

is there known issues that would blow the transistor?? Similar to a fuse?? any shorts I should chase down??

thanks

are you sure the fan isn't working or is it just not allowing air to come through the vents ? check if one of the ac lines going through the chassis into the cabin is freezing up
