transmission play. worn out diff?
i pretty much fixed all the other causes of these shifting issues
and it drives a lot better after replacing the compliance bushings and few other bushings along with engine mounts and few other things tightened up like shifter cables greased up and shifter box etc..
everything feels nice and toit.
but the transmission feels a bit suspicious still
i daily drive the car and i can hear the clunk when i roll or when i step and release the gas i can feel it bouncing and
i suspect ifs just beat differential gears
so i made 2 videos trying to show whats goin on best i can
besides that theres a whine in low gear like jrsc. but that's another problem lol
this video the car is on jacks also and I'm rotating the wheel by hand you can see the axle rotate.
tranny fluis is there and no leaks also
i rebuilt few b series transmissions so i can do this myself just maybe see if anyone can identify the problem before i take it out to reduce down time since its my daily driver

Yours has whine too? Like a final drive whine? Changes with road speed?
Mine does, replaced diff bearings, input shaft bearings, all counter shaft bearings, and the final drive from a 4.7 to a 4.4. Still has what I would call a final drive whine. Only bearings I did not change are the needle bearings under 3-6 on the main shaft.
Seems to be loudest when cold, and reverse sounds awful! Think it may just be the magnesium case transmitting more noise?
I will jack mine up and check the play/clunking. I know my D and B series stuff is clunky like that, just the backlash in the diff.

the reverse whine i think is normal. it was same on all my b series cars
but yea sometimes i wonder if the car grew a supercharger suddenly
it is very noticeable
theres also slight pebbles in a box noise when i accelerate which appeared after i replaced rear mount
mine also pops out of second gear and hard to put in 5th but thats just on the list of problems lol
its slightly over 200k miles so im not really complaining too much car is going through the middle age crisis now
i did this test on my b series and it was less. play
this is more pronounced when i take off from the light i can feel the clunk and the play since it breaks traction easily
i really just wanted some feedback on what is the weak part in this transmission that would go oit first if it was worn out like that
gears or diff
i wonder if the pebbles noise could be the notorious axle boot damage that i see people having with these.( this was slammed by previous owner)

so if it was internal transmission issue what would be the part that goes first?
is it the final drive gear? or inside differential?
and the pebbles in a can sound im assuming is the differential bearing?

but the issue did improve after all almost to a point of not being noticeable. i know it because of my OCD
it could be a normal thing for tsx considering the throttle funk these cars are known for
replacing rear mount with a new one was a major improvement even though the old one visually looked legit.
then replacing worn out suspension bushings and allignment
in addition to doing valv adjustment and other besic maintenance and checking electrical system to make sure everything is getting proper voltage
i swapped teh APP sensor for a known good one and tht didnt change anything so that was ruled out
this is my first and only tsx i have driven so i have no point of reference on how it should feel. i was judging by how a good b series car feels since thats all i had in the past
when i first got the car it was breaking traction on dry pavement uphill
after all done and better all season tires i pulled alongside the awd cars in the rain and they give me "that look" which is what i was looking for lol
