dropped my car with a friend this am to cool down and help him install the clutch and tranny. left to go see my grandmother in the hospital and came back a couple hours later and he was just about done. my shifter stabilizer bushing is really worn and i get about an inch+ of slop in the shifter and it keeps it from going into gear well. second especially. hoping this is all that's the problem. i'll have some neuspeed bushings going in tomorrow if they arrive like they are supposed to.

anyone ever have this problem with the shifter bushings wearing and having trouble getting it into gear? i can drive it, but i have to really yank the shifter deep and hold it to get it into gear...mostly second and it's not totally in gear then.

the lighterweight flywheel is nice paired up with the ex tranny. revs quick and the revs don't drop as quick as i thought they were going to. can't wait until tomorrow and i've got the bushings in and really get to drive it.

i had my brother get in the car and i had him row the shifter and i can see the stabilizer bar move a lot before the shifter actually moves the shift pin into the tranny. i really hope this is all that is my problem. i only have this problem really in second and high rev shifting between other gears. no problem in 5th and goes smoothly into reverse.

anyone else have this problem with worn linkage bushings being worn? also my driverside motor mount is starting to go...would this also relate to my problem if the engine moves more than it should?

i would like to know as well because mine sometimes shifts like butter and other times it shifts just as you described about second gear being difficult to shift into and at high revs. How much did you get a polyurthene bushing for the shifter for?

i suppose it would be possible because if there is enough slop in it, it could cause it to move a little out of place (but Id imagine there would need to be a lot of slop...a lot)

or it could be just a wearing honda tranny

usually both shifter bushings (that you need) can be bought for $10 and really are a worthy investment imo

if it has as much slop as you say,it could definately be the cause..only way to really tell is to replace the bushings to get rid of the play,then see if it still does it.

i could only get ahold of neuspeed urethane shift linkage inserts and a new stock motormount. it shifts better, but i'm still having problems in second and third. after i replaced the motormount i put a level on the valvecover and noticed that it sags on the driverside 1/16-1/8 of an inch. could that be enough to cause my shifting problem? i'm starting to think this tranny is f#cked. what would normally go out to cause the problems that i'm having? second doesn't quite go all the way in gear and slips out, third grinds going in at high revs/quick shifting. also if i get off the gas and coast it sounds like it's slightly binding or rubbing...possibly on the shift fork?

help me out. i don't want to go back to the dx tranny. the ex tranny paired with the aluminum flywheel pulls so good.
