Default 15 years and counting - Bryces crx build

It seems forums are dying so out of respect for them I'm going to keep a build thread going on H-T the oldest and my favorite old site. Thanks to photobucket sucking my old builds are all destroyed, so I'm just going to start over.

Link to old build; https://honda-tech.com/forums/appear...hread-2641424/

Lets get you up to speed. I have owned this car for 15 years, and it has been dragraced since 2004. I got it in 2003, painted it in 2004, swapped it in 2005 with a HMO XSi B16, that motor blew up in 10k miles, so I got a b16a3 in 2007. It has had several turbo kits on it, but was never finished due to one thing or another. This time it will be! It ran a 13.2@101 OBD0, with the a3. I'm really proud of that time.

Current setup;
B16a3, ITR 4.7fd tranny, Hasports, s300 v3.

Here are some of my favorite old pictures of the car 2003-2015.

Upgrades for 2018;
  • New paint job
  • build LS/Vtec (nearly done)
  • turbo kit
  • New wheels/tires
  • interior upgrades.

So far its coming along pretty well. Eg rad, k-tuned traction bar, Konig 15x7.5 wheels, turbo kit is nearly finished, Ls/vtec is nearly finished, GSR LSD tranny.

I had to cut up the last oem 91 front bumper Honda had left in the US I have been sitting on for years. I LOVE how it looks with the huge SF front mount though, turned out great.

I hope you guys enjoyed a quick look at my crx's history

(Sorry about all the different image sizes)

Thank you very much! Luckily I made all my poor choices building cars in Need For Speed Underground instead of real life

225/50/15 ToyoR888r's, I had to roll the front fenders to fit them, in retrospect I would have gone with a 225/45 instead. Konig really stepped up their wheel game, these look amazing in person. They are so light as well!

I have 225/45/15 Hankooks in the front, and still had to run about -2 to -3 degrees camber to keep them from rubbing. That's with a +40 offset wheel. For future reference

For my next set I'd like to get the R888r's all around in the 225 as well. From the looks of it, I'd need quite a bit of camber in the rear to fit them, too.

Thanks for asking!
  • Garrett .57 trim t3/t4
  • SpeedFactory 700hp dual back door FMIC (overkill, but they said it would flow about the same as the 450hp)
  • TurboSmart Vband WG, and BOV
  • E85, 255, 1000cc injectors
  • s300 v3
  • SLS mini ram, DP
Some of this might change depending on if our race team gets a Vibrant sponsorship for 2018 or not.

The LSvtec is a pretty simple setup, but I'll update with a full list once the engine is finished.

Thank you, I really appreciate it! Especially from all of you H-T OG's keeping the forum alive even if image hosting sites are trying to kill it.

Glad to see you continue your Crx build. Much like you, I've been long term on my build too, as life gets in the way, but I get closer all the time.
ive had issues with photobucket too, it's too bad that

My turbo is only good for 450hp, so that's pretty much my goal. I have an EG hatch as an all out drag car (Sleeved B18c, turbo) so this is just going to be a fun cruiser that can still run 11's or so on the track. I don't really want to cage this car.

Thanks Deetz, I have always enjoyed your build. I need to check in and see where you are at these days! (Doing it right now)

photobucket requires everyone to pay for their top tier service if you want hotlinking to pics.
Sounds like they want to be put out of business.

To stay more consistent with updates I'm going to have two tag along builds of the other two cars I'm building for 2018.

Lets start with crx updates;
I got a new Momo steering wheel along with an ACR 3" spacer. FINALLY got a SiR wing, my LsVtec engine is coming together. Skunk2 ultra IM, Built head, Skunk2 cams, ARP everything, GSR LSD tranny (My 96 spec ITR tranny will be for sale), Wisco pistons 10.5 comp, Eagle rods. I paid for all of the paint/primer/clear, oem black.

Next is the Zero;
This was a fun budget dragcar I build in 2015 out of a $300 craigslist eg hatch. I'll post a few photos of it from that season. Super fun build, it came together in just over a month! Ran 12.50 on a nearly stock turbo y8. The car had 11's in it but I ran out of season and slicks. (They were roasted old 22" slicks) It was a really silly build, I made the wing, the CF front lip is off of a new Mustang, I did everything as cheap as possible. (If people want more on this build I can post some quick pics of it later, these are pics of it finished)

Zero for this season;
No more D Sleeved B20vtec, 4p head, Vibrant is providing all the piping for the turbo kit, its getting vinyl wrapped as well. GSR LSD tranny, 25" slicks, hopping to run 10's, shell needs cage at some point.

Youtube link to the Zero racing (our track had burnt out bulbs so it looks like 13's when they were really 12's FYI) Dbag pose on purpose haha

I just picked up another 8th gen Si as a summer daily, so I will have tiny updates on that as I go. IHE, Flashpro, Coilovers, wheels, cosmetic mods, is the plan.

Tiny update here.

Getting the Crx ready for paint. I'm getting new quarter panels welded in to fix the very small amount of rust on the car. I got a new passenger side front fender for the car, its aftermarket so hopefully, it fits nice.

The wiper hole shaved SiR wing is done, and painted. The pile of other parts are for the 2010 si, Ksport coilovers, CTR valve cover, emblems, little stuff.

Time to strip the entire car down for paint. Currently just waiting on the weather.

Bit of a large update here;

Crx

BIGGGG thanks to Vibrant for the parts for this build! I cant get over the quality of everything I have ordered from them!

- The Ls/vtec bottom end is together finally after having a ton of issues. The head will be finished once the new thicker head gasket shows up.
- All of my intercooler piping is polished aluminum from Vibrant, and with black HD clamps, and a black overflow tank.
- The car goes to the fab shop April 1st, then fully stripped for paint the week after.
- Skunk2 Ultra intake manifold is here, along with a 70mm TB, and thermal gasket.
- I ordered a CJ's wiring harness to clean up my old engine harness.

The Zero's motor is coming together along with the wrap. The car will be getting half wrapped once we finish the motor.

The 4Piston head just showed up for this motor, and the sleeved b20 being assembled now. This motor will be running a Kraftworks procharger

The Crx
The motor is fully together! I will have pictures of that soon. I need to paint the block because the paint is chipping, anyone have a really good looking aluminum color to make it look fresh?

I got the intake manifold test fit on it so the fab shop can make my FMIC pipes. BTW this intake manifold fits very poorly with OEM fuel filter, and my ITR brake booster. I'm going to have to bend new brake lines.

Time to go to fab! After fab the car gets ripped appart for paint.

The Fa5
Picked up some used ksport 36 way coilovers (rusty/shitty condition sadly), had to order new bushings for the rears. But I also got my favorite wheel of all time; TE37's. They are 18x9.5 +22 and 18x8.5 +22 so getting them to fit is going take some WORK! Damn they will look good once they are on the car.
