Re: 15 years and counting - Bryces crx build
I'm still taking apart the car for paint. After taking off the lower plastics my heart sank because it was much worse then I thought it would be. I have owned this car for 15 years at this point, it has never seen snow in the entire time I owned it, but still got this rusty some how..
Now I have to buy rockers, and it does not appear that they make rockers for a Honda crx, only for a EF hatch.
Picked up the engine from Russ who built it.
GSR head;
Super tech valves/springs/retainers
BC stage 2 cams
Eagle cam gears
Skunk2 street IM w/70mm TB
B18B bottom end;
Wisco pistons (10.2 comp)
Eagle rods
New OEM oil pump, water pump
GSR LSD tranny
Now I just have to clean the block and paint it.

For some reason i can't see the pictures on this page.
I feel for ya with the rust. I went to swap my interior from grey to black, pulled up the carpet and realised sections of the floor were missing haha. I've owned the car for 10 years at that stage and never noticed.

Sorry if the pictures have not been working. I have been using imgur for all of the pictures, so from now on I'll try to just use Honda-techs uploader.

Jesus man, your car is so clean, and that engine bay!! Pics worked now in that last post.
Ouch on the rocker panel rust. Too afraid to take mine apart to check do the plastic pieces remove easily?

Yeah, they come off super easy if you want to check. Its a few plastic screws that break or strip so have replacements, then they pop off. If you get under you car and look at the jack points along with the pinch weld and if they look bad then you will be in for a bad time. If they are clean I really wouldn't worry about it.
I had to order EF hatch rockers to patch mine with, they cost $50 a side, and will have to be modified to work.
Things I'm still waiting on to finish the car;
Paint/bodywork
CJ's wiring harness (1-2 months out still, hopefully sooner so I can have the car done by July)
Hondata COP controller

Re: 15 years and counting - Bryces crx build
I can see the pics in your new post.
Man that rust isn't even that bad. Are there any holes? If not i'd consider just media blasting it and resealing it. Cutting the panel out can create problems of its own (you can't always access the other side of the panel to seal the weld from oxidising).
Love the pipe routing on your turbo setup, and the brushed black, grey valve cover. Hot like fire.

Re: 15 years and counting - Bryces crx build
UPDATE: Sorry about the hosting problems, I give up on imgur.
After hours with a wire wheel the block looked so good polished that I can't bring myself to paint it.
CLEAN!
Sand blasted/repainted the half shalft
Polished my Hasport mounts, they look BRAND NEW after 12 years of use. Love your mounts Hasport.
Fully disassembled my starter and rebuilt it. Polished what I could and repainted it. I wish I had a before picture it was so nasty.
Test fitting the new fenders, car is waiting to get power washed (If I could ever get one that worked haha) then I start the POR15 on the under side/wheel wells.

Re: 15 years and counting - Bryces crx build
STILL waiting on the Ksport bushings (I should have just got new coilovers)
The Zero build is still waiting for a motor. If it doesn't come soon I'm just going to toss my B16 or GSR in it so I have something to run while I rebuild the CRX.

Very cool build man. Looks good. I've been working on my swap for about 3 months now. It's getting close. Just got the engine in last weekend. I'm waiting on a few parts but man I hope to be running soon. 00 JDM ITR engine and trans. 90 CRX SI OBD1 ECU.

Re: 15 years and counting - Bryces crx build
The Crx is prepped for paint but waiting to get painted so since that is taking much longer then expected I got bored and started putting together the Zero with random parts I had laying around.
Picked up a $500 JDM GSR long block from Criagslist, so I decided to slap that in the Zero. ITR tranny, solid mounts, 6 puck, ACT PP and flywheel.
Shell ready for the swap
Turbo bits coming together on the engine. Its getting leftovers from the crx build and old parts from the Zero D build from 2015.
Tossed GC with Koni yellows in it. Front needs to come up a bit.

Re: 15 years and counting - Bryces crx build
After over a month of waiting Ksport finally sent me the bushings I needed. The Ksport 36 ways I got are JUNK. Does any of you know how to adjust the damping in the front? Do you have to loosen the nut on top then turn the ****?
Rolled the fenders to fit the wheels. It turned out looking great, but drives like ****.

Re: 15 years and counting - Bryces crx build
I ordered a new car last week, and it will be here tomorrow so here are some pictures of the FA5 before I take it apart to sell
I would like to try to fit the TE37's on my next car, but if the +22 is just too much I'll sell them and get some +38's like everyone else is running so I can fit a 255 wide tire.
Other updates,
Crx is STILL waiting to be painted.
