Hey guys. I just bought a complete b16a2 swap out of a 2000 si. I just wanted to know if I could use the si engine harness with the ecu or what ecu should I use. I have a 96 EK hatch shell but the guy I bought it from said the dash was changed to a 99-00 dash/climate control how can I tell if that's the case. The si harness only has 2 plugs for the ecu. So any help or a dive on this would be very helpful thanks in advance.
99-00 climate control looks like this:
Do you need to pass an emissions check? If not, I would get a chipped P28 with a tune of your choice, OBD2b to OBD1 Jumper harness, and use the 99-00 Si engine harness.
You can use the Si ecu, but some emissions stuff will throw a check engine light, because of missing/different sensor and/or different ecu wiring. Check out the links in my signature for more wiring information.

So I would need to use a jumper harness so no check engine lights goes on. But the si engine harness only has to plugs for the ecu don't I need 3.
You do have a 99-00 climate control. OBD2B harnesses and ecu's only use 2 plugs (unless they have an automatic transmissions). If you don't have an ecu, you have 2 options:
Option 1
99-00 Civic Si engine harness > OBD2B to OBD1 Adapter harness > chipped OBD1 P28 with 99-00 Civic Si tune.
This setup will NOT pass an emission check. There should not be any check engines lights.
Option 2
99-00 Civic Si engine harness > 99-00 Civic Si ecu
This setup CAN pass an emission check, IF you add the sensors (EVAP emissions stuff) and rewire (secondary O2, CKF (if it's a JDM motor)) as required. Wiring links are in my signature.
I would choose Option 1 if I didn't have to worry about emissions. It's easier, and more flexible.

yea that's what I did option 1 thank for the advice
You will need THREE ECU plugs... in the '96-98 Civic, all three plugs are on the engine harness and the only connection on the ECU side of the car under the dash (glove box) between the chassis/cabin harness and the engine harness would be the green crossover plug. In the '99-00 Civics, only two ECU plugs are found on the engine harness and the third one is actually on the chassis/cabin harness along with the above mentioned green crossover plug. So you still have three, they just come together from two different sources. Just because the previous owner said that you have '99-00 climate control doesn't mean that the wiring has all been switched throughout the car to the '99-00 style. The climate control panels interchange in the hole in the dash between both versions... so it could literally be clipped in without ANY proper wiring behind it.
