Default harness and ecu for 99-00 si into 96-98 EK? which ones? obd2b, obd2a issue

my friend was suggesting that if i find an ek, it may be better since the chassis are stiffer (than eg). anyway, i found a ek hatch for cheap (about what ek's, are going for) so, how's the wiring work?
i'm getting his engine , trans, ecu, and stuff. (99-00 si b16a2)

which harness do i need, and will i be able to use si ecu?

You use the harness that came in the car rewire it for the motor with a chipped ecu p28 or p30 and you will have to buy a wire jumper you can get all of the parts of ebay. I just put an gsr in my 96 hatch and used a 96-98 civic ex wire harness

so no 99-00 ecu? are any of the plugs different between obd2b and obd2a?

also, i would later plan on getting the greddy turbo kit for the 99-00 si (swapped in the ek), the kit comes with an ecu, wouldn't i have to use it with the 99-00 si ecu?

Do you need to pass emissions? If yes, does your 96-98 EK have a fuel tank pressure sensor? If no, do NOT run the 99 Si ECU.

The 99 Si used an 8-pin distributor, correct? 96-98 EK's used a 9-pin distributor. So there is a plug difference.

There are probably more differences too. You might consider the purchase of Helms shop manual.

in illinois, all we have to do to pass emissions is the exhaust, they just read whatever comes out of the tailpipe. But now i know why someone else who did the same swap into an eg switched the gas tank....

i'm not sure if the ek has a fuel tank pressure sensor.... are there certain models that have one?

i know there is a place that sells distributor jumpers, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Well yes, there are certain models that have a FTP - the 99-00 Si being one of them. Not all 96-98's had the FTP though - mainly the Dx/Cx's. I believe all 96-00 Ex's had the FTP.

so the hatches won't have an FTP then....

well, then.... what is the most simple way to get this done?

oh, and when e-testing in IL, could've elaborated and said that they do NOT plug in to your ecu or anything.

and when i do the swap i will get a helms.

just trying to see if a obd2b b16a2 is too much of a hassle to swap into a obd2a EK hatch. the only thing for sure is that i'm getting my friends engine for cheap and its been babied. i'm just trying to figure witch chassis to pop it into.

Chipped P28 maybe? What ECU powered the B16A3 from the Del Sol?
