Hey all,
my 01 accord 4cyl sedan is throwing a maintenance required light with the 81-1 abs sensor error.
Here is the lead up, I drove this car down to SoCal from the Bay Area. Halfway down i got a MR light. Car drove fine, finished the trip and got the code read, p0101 and p010f, map sensor out of range.... so I replace our filthy air filter and reset by tripping the battery. MR light stayed on, had codes read again and its 81-1 ABS sensor? Wtf?
I am super perplexed now. Haven't encountered this code before, what's my best course of action?

Recheck your previous work, look for any damage to the wiring. Recheck all your grounds/bonding jumpers. Make sure the connections are clean and tight. Verify the wiring is not damaged/corroded.
Clear the code and drive.
If it doesn't come back then it probably was an intermittent issue.
If it does the diagnostics are non existent, its a replacement of the ABS control unit to fix the problem.
I would check the wiring and verify no damage has occurred.
Are you a left foot kicker on long drives?
If you are you may have just dislodged the ABS controller, which is located under the driver side kick panel.

No damage to wiring or grounds. Checked all fuses and are fine. Tripped the battery and light stayed on. Haven't tried using a scanner to clear the codes, auto shop won't do that for liability sake.
where is the abs controller? I couldn't see it clearly on the driver side...

Ok, here is a late update.
Checked for any visual issues, kick plate was fine. Vehicle drove normally home on our trip. Used a scanner to read the code and see if there were any more details, and clear it since tripping the battery wouldn't clear it. The scanner detected no code. Car was reset and is fine. Electric gremlins?
