once and a while at idle my 91 si starts to smoke white smoke and it smells like coolant... arrg

I have lots of white smoke too, how can you test for head gasket? Just compression test?

yup, same thing happen to my old crx si motor, plus...I kept finding oil mixed into the radiator reservoir.

 

i guess ill just park it for a while before it goes to chp for approval

cant drop in b16 till it is registered... good thing it already passed smog

any ideas about how much longer i have till it goes poof?

Check to see if oil is mixing with the antifreeze by looking for oil floaters under the radiator cap. I think you said it smells like antifreeze which is not good. It could be a head gasket or worst case scenerio is you could have a hairline crack in the head. But be sure it smells like antifreeze because all it may be is condensation steaming off from the inside of your exhaust pipes due to the recent weather changes. Hope this helps.
