Generic CYP can cause breaking
Hi, Civic ex 97 , fighting with breaking at wot. I have an OEM distributor but replaced the CYP with one from a ebay dist. Can this pick up been so bad quality that still working wrong? Planing on buy a b20 OEM dist. for $40 to replace it.
If you're talking about misfiring at heavy throttle, especially at low rpm, and no code thrown other than misfire codes, that is often generally weak sparks. Consider the plug wires, plugs, cap and rotor, and coil.
Mixing and matching parts between genuine and knockoff distributors probably isn't going to work very well. When you change the sensors make sure the gap to the reluctor teeth is small.

Why not just replace the entire distributor instead of buying it, ripping it apart, and piecing together the other? Anywho.. Is the CEL gone? Are you still getting the sensor code? If the engine light and trouble code is gone, you may look at other possibilities like mk378 mentions.
