Bad lines
I have a 97 civic lx...brakes went out...realized it was a brake line.....pulled the covers and saw that all 5 lines need replaced..... 2 rear brake lines fuel supply fuel return and fuel vent. I want to use a a braided fuel line but dont know what fittings to buy that will fit. What sizes do I need for all 5 lines and what connectors do I need to order
I just replaced all of these lines on my sixth gen civic hatch.
I would recommend hard lines. Securing the flex lines would be a PITA. The most difficult part of the hardlines is feeding them up along the firewall behind the engine subframe. I suppose you could make these sections out of flex line but I was able to do it with help from someone in the engine bay while I was under the car.
I did it with pre-cut sections of hardlines from the parts store because I didn't want to straighten hard line coils. Plus, it was easier to work with smaller sections and then connect them when they were all in place.
There are two different line sizes. Use a rope to trace and measure the existing lines to get an estimate of the total required length. Then, bring a piece of each into the parts store and buy the lines. There are fittings already on the lines. You can rent or buy a flare tool and a bending tool.
I'm pretty sure the gas tank needs to be dropped to do this. Be prepared to replace the straps.
