Default 00 Civic EX - VTEC solenoid gasket

HI, Ive done the search and am now looking for reassurance from everyone.
I have a 200 civic ex and it would appear that the vtec solenoid gasket has failed. The engine is leaking oil at the top left behind the valve cover. I have purchased the new gasket set, and also ordered new bolts from Honda.
The plan is to take off the solenoid (pray that the bolts dont break), make sure the new bolts are the same as the old bolts. If so, throw the old bolts away.
Make sure the solenoid is flat, use new gasket, skim coat of rtv. and install. Tighten new bolts to 10ftlbs
Did I miss anything? I know its seems silly to describe what I want to do, but someone on this board has done this project before and I would rather learn from their experience that have a car stranded
Thanks
Steve

Sounds like a good plan. I used HondaBond instead of RTV.
