2001 Prelude - SRS Troubleshoot (Reset/fix)
Hi anyone and everyone!
Had an issue with a recently purchased dude that came from florida where they don't have inspection. My state however does so here lies my problem. The past owner installed an nag hub with a sparco wheel, in the process they cut the cable reel out. Anyone with an aftermarket wheel would know this turns the SRS light on in the vague cluster.
My adventure now is fixing it.
Things I've done include
-getting a new cable reel to hopefully restore original circuit system and start fresh
-getting resistors and even the resistor that comes with an nrg hub to bypass the srs
But anything I've done or did didnt seem to fix the system enough for even the MES plug reset technique to work. If you've done this technique you know you have to connect and disconnect the leads in the MES plug in a certain order to get the light to blink twice and confirm the reset. However even though my steps/procedure is confirmed by the manual and forums alike i can't seem to even get the system to reset. Never has blinked twice only takes 6-10 seconds before coming back on.
I recently found out my friend (in his miata though) found he had 2.2 ohms resistance in just the SRS wires alone and was able to get by without using the resistor trick so that got me thinking if my resistors just aren't right even though i have one from NRG. But i also don't have access to a good working ohm reader in order to figure out the best resistor setup.
Ive scoured forums for a month and nobody but me has seemed to have the issue in actually resetting the light. Everyone just keeps saying try it a couple times but after weeks of trying it everyday in different ways, and me needing to get her on the road asap, i have no choice but to create a thread and pray one of you can help guide me to enlightenment!
Thanks in advance!!
