Z10 Oil Pump Fitting Yes or No?
I bought one of these from Mike K awhile back and im thinking of installing this while i do some engine work tomarrow. Planning to run a 90degree fitting to clear alternator. What do you guys think?

My thoughts on it are that its a closed loop system and it gets filtered somewhere along the line. I dont see anything wrong with running it that way.
Maybe others know something that I dont???

FFGeoff posted about this awhile back and was against the fittings, even though he designed them...He said there was a flaw.

i just took the oil pressure T off my 82 nissan z turbo motor and used it on the honda. same threads, steel, and fairly short. worked great. not sure how hard they are to get ahold of though.

I was seriously thinking of using one of those Z10 oil pump fittings.
Oil pressure sender can't supply for Vtec + Turbo, so where else would you get another oil supply?
z10 didnt steal my ideas directly, i worked there thought of all of them and was never compensated thats all. Thats beyond us so lets get to this other issue
If you run your turbo off of this fitting without an external inline oil filter you will destroy your turbo.
The oil coming out of the back of the block IS filtered. I know greg samaroo said it is not, but he was mistaken, take another look.

^^^^ you drill a hole along the oil galley on the back of the block and then tap it........you use this to feed the head and the pressure sending unit hole to feed the turbo........
dont do it with the motor in the car. fill the hole with something tap it then clean the hell out of it with compressed air carb cleaner, the usual. Same as you would clean any awkward crevice.
Geoff,
How about using the Z10 fitting as a way to drive an oil pressure gauge? I don't think unfiltered oil is gonna hurt the sender any because it doesn't circulate, right? It just pressurizes the line.
Thanks,
Sonny

Question does anyone know how a production car oil system works?? Engine oil is only filtered on start up when oil pressure is below 20 psi. and above its maximum cold pour point. Thought you guys might like to know that, the oil fliter has a bypass spring in it , that allows oil to flow around it when it goes above that pressure. The reasons for this are 2 fold, first on a cold start in winter climates oil would not flow through the filter for 2 reasons one of which most would not think of the second pretty obvious (cold oil= thick oil with poor flow charteristics) and oil that hasent been brought to tempature in the last run cycle to remove all moisture (ie water) will freeze in the filter material rendering the filter useless.then all the filter media is blown apart, and then usally blows the filter housing apart(not good). This is one of the reasons you do not want to rev an engine with cold oil. As for the second reason for the by-pass spring, the filter media can not flow enough oil at high rpm(rpm above 4000) to supply what the engine needs, if you look around you will find that the oil filter on a honda engine can just barely flow 15-20 gallons per hour average, a good race filter will flow 35 to 45 gallons per hour ( all race filters have a warning on them that they are not for street use because they will not trap particulate small enough and engine life will be reduced below what is considerd normal, a race engine only has to live as long as the race),the flow ratings drop as the filter becomes clogged with debris and most people dont change there oil when they should anyway so the car companies specify the filter by-pass in the filters for their engines because unfiltered oil is better than no oil,so unless your only putting around town your entire engine sees unfiltered oil more than you think, hope this helps

Back from the dead, but I'm thinking of running an oil accumulator to the plug location on the oil pump, any opinions on this?
