Who has tapped the oil pump discharge port for oil feed?
I am wondering who has tapped the oil pump instead of the oil pressure send unit for turbo feed. One of the manufacturers of these fittings (Z10) has said they have sold a couple thousand of these units but I have yet to find someone who is using this method for vtec or FI.
Anyone?
Anyone?

its hard to use that fitting that z10 sells. The alternator sits right in the damn way.

Re: Who has tapped the oil pump discharge port for oil feed? (b18bturbo)
I mocked it up the other night and I had about a thumb width extra. (ZC motor) But I found it strange that I haven't seen a single setup doing it this way. Besides clearances what are the issues? It's earlier in the oil flow, and not a chance of breaking the oil sending unit from the block....
But I would need to hear a success story before I do it. I still find it strange that it hasn't been discussed more.

Are you sure, i could've sworn the factory oil pressure switch was on the filtered oil galley of the block?

It looks that way, but i'm pretty sure it actually feeds off the galley behind the one it seems to feed from. From the pump it goes down a galley further out and down and to the filter and then it goes to a galley behind the first one and slightly above. The top galley is filtered and i'm pretty sure that's the galley that it actually feeds from. I don't have a motor here i can check and i could be wrong, it's happened before.

i could be wrong but im giving it a shot
i believe the oil is pumped from the pump. through a galley which leads to the oil pressure sender and than, into the side of where the oil filter is located, goes throught the filter than though the "center of the filter, and on to the rest of the engine.

I used one for awhile but ran into the same issues as posted up already.
~The space is too freakin tight for plumbing the lines.
~The oil is unfiltered oil (good or bad you decide, everyone has their own opinions)
~The alternator belt is a royal PITA
Switched to a GEM oil filter block.....and it was 100 times better.

My friend was getting oil feed for his cylinder head using the Z-10 fitting on his all-motor LS/VTEC racecar. He wasn't running an alternator so he had plenty of room. I'm using it on my turbo LS/VTEC street car for my mechanical oil pressure gauge with a 90 degree brass fitting. I tilted the alternator back using a slightly longer belt and it gave me enough clearance.

Mine is also plumbed from the oil pump fitting...It uses a 90 degree fitting and has abot an inch clearance from the belt itself. Zip ties rule. I havent had any oil issies lately, and since i change my oil every 4 runs, i dont think it being filtered or nonfiltered will have a huge difference.

OK then. Because of what seems to me to be a very crowded space to put a T on the ZC block, I wonder if what I mocked up here will work alright. I have the turbo feed coming straight off the oil pressure sensor fitting. And then use the oil pump port for my oil pressure gauge.
