Default 95 del sol d16z6 - water pump looks weird


any idea whats going on here?? this seems to be a 1995 del sol vtec model.. serial number is JHMEH6268SS003902 i never checked

Haha. That's a jerry-rigged timing belt cover with the water pump pulley protruding through a cut hole. Are you driving this car?

Stock D16Z6 engine?

yes this is my current sol. its not on the road right now. working on her as much as i can first. no idea i never ran the serial number to see whats stock

Click your own VIN link in the first post. The stock engine would be the D16Z6.

I don't see a timing belt on the pulley, so I wouldn't even crank the engine.

i started her up and drove her for a hour... it actually just started making a quick grinding noise when i start her up. was thinking its the starter but no idea to be honest. ill look up the codes now

Does the water pump pulley turn when you crank the engine? Is the grinding noise coming from the water pump area?

It's clearly time to remove the crank pulley to what surprises are hidden behind the timing belt cover. I assume that a non-stock water pump was installed.

im uploading a start up vid and the belts running.. im going to just drive it over to my friends garage i guess and start taring it apart. bummed me out tho because i thought i could just bleed the breaks fix the lights and start ripping. guess not tho? im in albany / troy new york i need someone good working on this

yea sorry it looks like it said automatic but im not sure thats right or maybe this is a conversion? pretty sure he said stock tranny flywheel motor all that. the guy barely spoke english it was dark and i been up for 2 days i just tossed him the 800 bucks because it was ripping around nice its fast and clutch is strong

i was trying to get new headlights, breaks done, and that headlight switch.. i didnt expect to put over 100$ into the engine.. you think im looking at over 300-400? cuz if so i have to sell it.. anyway thanks getting it looked at tmrw
